Charlie MacDonald and Myles Weston scored as Brentford won for the first time in four attempts.

MacDonald slotted home Cleveland Taylor's cross at the near post and turned provider for Weston to drill a low shot into the net.

Carl Cort should have made it 3-0 but headed straight at Owain Fon Williams.

Nicholas Bignall, on loan at Stockport, twice forced saves from Lewis Price, who also made a brilliant stop to tip over a volley from Paul Turnbull.

Brentford manager Andy Scott told BBC London 94.9:

"I don't think the performances in the last few games have been terrible, we've just been punished for individual mistakes but we needed to arrest the slump in results.

"Obviously it's always a big decision to leave your captain out but I felt it was time for him to have a rest.

"It was a nervy game in general and I think the crowd realised it. It wasn't a great game at all but we could've won by three or four goals really."
