Kayode Odejayi bagged two goals as Colchester shattered Charlton's unbeaten league record.

The home side took the lead when the visitors' Miguel Angel Llera headed Anthony Wordsworth's lofted ball over his own goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Odejayi then latched on to John-Joe O'Toole's long pass to chest down and fire low past Elliot for his first.

The Colchester striker compounded Charlton's misery when he beat Elliott to the ball and slotted in.

Colchester manager Aidy Boothroyd told BBC Essex:

"I didn't think we played particularly well in the first half and thought we were lucky to come in with the score we had.

"But you've got to ride your luck and take your chances, which we did.

"We pressurised them and forced them into an error and Kayode, who I thought was terrific all 90 minutes, got his two goals."
