Substitute Andros Townsend struck after 57 minutes to give Leyton Orient their first home victory of the season.

Debutant midfielder Luke Summerfield had a shot diverted for a corner and Orient had several chances before Steve Morrison headed wide for Millwall.

Townsend had only been on the pitch for two minutes when he fired into the bottom corner from distance after collecting a clearance by the visitors.

The O's withstood late pressure, keeper Jamie Jones diving to deny Neil Harris.

Leyton Orient manager Geraint Williams told BBC London 94.9:

"I've been playing things down as much as I could because I think it's important to keep the players positive but it is a monkey off our back and it's something we can hopefully build on now.

"Sometimes you take somebody off and they let somebody score. This time it's a good one and it's gone in our favour. But we know Andros (Townsend) loves to get forward and when he gets in there he can finish.

"That's the second goal he's scored for us in not a lot of games and I had no hesitation in putting Andros out there."

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett told BBC London 94.9:

"Probably seven games now without a clean sheet and we didn't create too many chances today either so not a great combination between the two.

"We had enough time and enough of the ball to do much more than we did.

"We didn't look like we would get on the end of crosses going into the box and we had a number of crosses in the box but we didn't keep them alive and it was a big frustration because we're capable of better."
