Charlton maintained their 100% winning start to the season with a win against London rivals Brentford.

Striker Deon Burton opened the scoring for the Addicks on 11 minutes, smashing home Lloyd Sam's cutback.

Sam then extended Charlton's lead on 30 minutes with a strike into the bottom left-hand corner after a 15-pass move.

Carl Cort had Brentford's best chances with two headers and David Hunt later struck the crossbar for the Bees with a curling free-kick.

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson tells BBC London 94.9:

"Obviously we're delighted with today. I thought it was a good performance. We knew what to expect.

"We had to deal with a lot of throws and a lot of set plays and we dealt with that well and then we got the ball down and played.

"We said to the lads all week you've got to deal with what they're good at and match the workrate and then do what we're good at which is play football."

Brentford manager Andy Scott told BBC London 94.9:

"Very, very pleased with the way we reacted. We didn't do very well for the two goals and you get punished for that at the higher level.

"We've got to learn from that and we certainly did that in the second half. We were more compact.

"We had spells when we didn't have the ball but that's going to be the case at Charlton."
