MK Dons 2-1 Bristol Rovers

MK Dons retained hopes of an automatic promotion place with goals in either half from Ali Gerba and Luke Chadwick.

Jason Puncheon fired in a left-footed shot just wide before Gerba muscled through and fired an effort past Rovers keeper Steve Phillips at the near post.

Willy Gueret made an acrobatic save to deny Rovers striker Jo Kuffour but just before the break Gerba's neat ball was turned in from close range by Chadwick.

Steve Elliott forced a tense finish by heading in Stuart Campbell's corner.

Bristol Rovers first team coach Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol:

"We were quite comfortable in the first half and we didn't feel under any pressure. "

"Unfortunately we didn't move the ball quick enough to get through them in any shape or form or create any chances."

"We came out in the second half with every intention of starting with a little more tempo to it but after 55 minutes on a hot afternoon we were 2-0 down."

"At times the MK Dons showed what a good side they are but I did learn that the players gave every ounce of effort to try and get back in it."
