Brighton 1-3 Southend

Lee Barnard scored a goal in each half as Southend claimed a comfortable win at Brighton to boost their play-off bid with a fifth win in six matches.

Barnard got the opener with his first goal in five months from close range after Osei Sankofa's shot was parried.

Lloyd Owusu levelled things up with a neat header from Gary Borrowdale's cross, but Barnard restored Southend's lead with a fine shot into the corner.

Theo Robinson then tucked in after good work from Kevin Betsy to seal the win.
