Bristol Rovers 3-0 Yeovil

Yeovil's run of four straight wins came to an emphatic end as Bristol Rovers cruised to victory and moved to 13th.

Coach Steve Thompson took charge of the visitors in the wake of Russell Slade's sudden departure and saw his side fall behind to a David Pipe volley.

Darryl Duffy's powerful header doubled Rovers' lead before Paul Warne saw two efforts foiled by Steve Phillips.

Rickie Lambert climbed off the bench to wrap up the win with a spectacular free-kick with 10 minutes left.

Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol:

"We deserved it. We weren't at our flowing best and I think you have to give Yeovil a lot of credit for that. They're difficult to play against and make it very tight in midfield.

"Once we got ahead, we knew there wasn't really any reason to come out too much in the second half - we just thought if we kept playing we'd get another one.

"It took a bit of magic from Rickie to get it, but it was pleasing to score three goals and keep a clean sheet."

Yeovil caretaker manager Steve Thompson told BBC Somerset:

"We needed to do more to win the game and it was always difficult once we had conceded two goals that we don't normally concede - the first came from a throw and the second from a free-kick. We were very disappointed.

"I thought the lads came out and gave it a good go without being too dangerous."
