Leon Clarke scored the 2,000th league goal at Roots Hall as Southend cruised to victory over nine-man Huddersfield.
Clarke scored the first after he turned in skipper Kevin Maher's cross before Alan McCormack tapped in the second.
Danny Schofield pulled one back with a header before keeper Matthew Glennon was sent off for a foul on Clarke.
Mark Gower's 20-yard strike made it 3-1 and McCormack headed in the fourth before Frank Sinclair saw red for stamping on the two-goal hero.
