Swansea 1-0 Tranmere
Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa was Swansea's match-winner
Akinfenwa ensured a winning start at the New Stadium
Adebayo Akinfenwa's debut goal ensured Swansea began life in a new stadium and a new division with a victory.

The summer signing bundled the ball home on 30 minutes after some typical magic from strike partner Lee Trundle.

The first-half ended with two penalty saves as Tranmere captain Jason McAteer and then Trundle were expertly denied.

Tranmere put the home side under severe pressure in the second half, but a combination of poor finishing and fine goalkeeping gave Swansea the points.
