Plymouth ended a 12-year wait to return to Division One and also clinched the championship in new manager Bobby Williamson's first match in charge.

The Pilgrims went ahead in the 81st minute when Micky Evans headed home David Norris's right wing cross.

Argyle clinched victory five minutes later as top scorer David Friio raced through to beat QPR keeper Lee Camp to score his 14th goal of the season.

Camp had earlier kept QPR in contention with a string of superb saves.
