Gradi salutes Ashton

Crewe manager Dario Gradi has heaped praise on stiker Dean Ashton after he scored two of Crewe's goals in a 4-0 win at Luton.

Gradi said: "In the last two games, Dean has been excellent. He has been working hard in training, is taking things on board and is a fine target man who has the ability to score all sorts of goals.

"This is what I've been waiting for, these have been his best performances and people are right to say he has a bright future in the game."

Ashton also set up David Vaughan for Crewe's third after 50 minutes.

Vaughan also turned provider as Rodney Jack grabbed Crewe's fourth.

Meanwhile Luton's players have been called in for training following the defeat.

"I've got them all in," said manager Joe Kinnear.

"We're going to sit down and look at the video. They're going to be embarrassed about what they see,"

He added: "We're missing opportunites. QPR were beaten - there was always a good chance Wigan would go there and win, and we've done nothing about it.

"We're hanging in there, but that's all at the moment."
