Rob Earnshaw claims Cardiff's overall season scoring record
Goals from Robert Earnshaw and Alan Mahon either side of the interval gave Cardiff City a 2-1 win over Blackpool on Tuesday night.
It was the Bluebirds' first success over the Seasiders for 17 years but they could have won by more.
Earnshaw, whose goal saw him break Hughie Ferguson's Cardiff season scoring record for all competitions, should have claimed another from the spot after new boy Gareth Ainsworth was brought down in the 57th minute.
Blackpool had taken a shock 36th-minute lead when John Murphy headed down to Scott Taylor inside the six-yard box and he bundled the ball in off the near post.
The equaliser came when Phil Barnes could only parry a Willie Boland shot and Earnshaw pounced to hammer the loose ball into the net for his 33rd goal in all competitions.
With that strike the Wales striker broke Ferguson's 75-year-old club record, and now needs to add two more league goals to his 29 so far to claim Stan Richards' club league goals record as well.
Five minutes after the restart the Bluebirds went ahead when Blackpool failed to clear a Graham Kavanagh corner and Mahon lashed a low shot into the far corner of the net.
