Mansfield 0-1 Oldham

Oldham defender Fitz Hall struck a crucial late penalty to keep Iain Dowie's side in contention for an automatic play-off spot with a win at Mansfield.

The Latics appeared to be heading for a disappointing draw when Liam Lawrence brought down Wayne Andrews inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty.

Hall stepped up to convert the spot-kick.

Oldham had played for most of the game with 10 men following David Eyres' 34th-minute dismissal for violent conduct.

But the Stags' discipline was equally lacking and they finished the game with only nine players.

Ryan Day was sent off for a second yellow card in the 56th minute after a crunching tackle on Anthony Carss.

And in the final minute player-manager Keith Curle was also dismissed for a professional foul.

Mansfield: Welch, Day, Curle, Doane, Eaton, Lawrence, Corden, Disley, Curtis, Christie, Mendes. Subs: Jason White, Mitchell, Williamson, Andy White, Gadsby.

Oldham: Pogliacomi, Hall, Haining, Beharall, Armstrong, Murray, Duxbury, Carss, Eyres, Wijnhard, Andrews. Subs: Miskelly, Corazzin, Killen, Burgess, Eyre.

Referee: P Taylor (Hertfordshire)
