Teenager Iain Hume proved the hero for Tranmere as he struck with a clinical
double to send Blackpool to a Prenton Park defeat - their first loss in 12
Tranmere were much the better side in the opening period and Hume deservedly
fired them ahead with a 20-yard effort that flew in off the post.
Blackpool then needed a goalline clearance from Colin Hendry to deny Shane
Nicholson soon afterwards.
The visitors gradually improved and after Keith Southern had gone close, they
equalised with an excellent 25-yard free-kick from Paul Evans.
But Tranmere always looked more likely to snatch the points and in the closing
stages Hume skipped past two defenders to beat Phil Barnes with an angled shot.
