Plymouth's Paul Wotton struck late to deny Cardiff a win
|
Cardiff's hopes of automatic promotion took yet another knock after Paul Wotton earned Plymouth a 1-1 draw with a late equaliser.
The Bluebirds went ahead with Robert Earnshaw's 24th league goal of the season in the 42nd minute, but were unable to add to that score.
Plymouth had several chances but it was not until four minutes from time that they equalised through skipper Wotton's free-kick.
It was yet a disappointing home performance by the Bluebirds, who are beginning to lose sight of an automatic promotion spot.
They could well have been beaten but for a superb display by goalkeeper Neil Alexander, who made a number of crucial stops.
The Bluebirds were dealt a blow before the game when Alan Mahon cried off through illness and was replaced by Andy Legg.
With Jason Bowen ineffective on the other flank, City's front two had little to work on and the Plymouth goal was rarely under pressure.
