Blackpool 1-0 Brentford

Blackpool extended their unbeaten league run to 11 games with a hard-fought 1-0 win over play-off rivals Brentford at Bloomfield Road.

John Murphy was the Seasiders' hero again, following up his midweek hat-trick with the winner in the 27th minute.

The breakthrough came when Murphy saw his shot blocked, but was still on hand to drill home the rebound from 10 yards.

After 71 minutes, Murphy thought he had doubled his side's lead only to see his effort ruled out.

However it was tough going for Blackpool, who were made to fight all the way with some last-ditch defending keeping the Bees' aerial bombardment at bay.

Blackpool: Barnes, Grayson, Flynn, Hendry, Richardson, Bullock, Evans, Southern, Coid, Murphy, Taylor. Subs: Lonergan, Thornley, Jaszczun, Walker, Clarke.

Brentford: Paul Smith, Dobson, Sonko, Marshall, Somner, O'Connor, Fullarton, Jay Smith, Hughes, Hunt, Vine. Subs: Julian, Williams, Fieldwick, McCammon, Hutchinson.

Referee: R Olivier (Sutton Coldfield).
