Cardiff 1-1 Barnsley
Cardiff's Gavin Gordon snatches a late point
Gavin Gordon heads home Cardiff's equaliser

Gavin Gordon's last-gasp equaliser rescured a point for promotion-chasing Cardiff against struggling Barnsley.

Barnsley had threatened to claim victory with their only shot on target.

The Tykes took the lead shortly after half-time when referee Frazer Streeton harshly penalised Jason Bowen for handling in the area and Bruce Dyer scored from the spot.

But substitute Gordon levelled in the dying seconds when he was on hand to knock home Andy Legg's cross at the near post.

Cardiff rarely showed their promotion credentials against a side struggling for points at the bottom of the league.

Bluebirds' star striker Robert Earnshaw was restricted to a first-half shot which was blocked by Mitch Ward.

Cardiff: Alexander, Weston, Young, Barker, Croft, Boland, Kavanagh, Bowen, Mahon, Earnshaw, Thorne. Subs: Legg, Gordon, Prior, Bonner, Margetson.

Barnsley: Marriott, Neil, Crooks, Kay, Austin, Mulligan, Ward, Donovan, Gary Jones, Dyer, Fallon. Subs: Oldham, Sheron, Gorre, Ghent, Williams.

Referee: F Stretton (Nottinghamshire)
