Peterborough 1-2 Port Vale

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson scored a fabulous last-minute winner to give Port Vale a vital win at Peterborough - their first victory of 2003.

The attacking midfielder swept home a dangerous cross from Paul Byrne deep in stoppage time as Adam Newton was made to pay for a dreadful clearance which gifted Vale the ball.

Andy Clarke looked to have salvaged a point for Peterborough after 82 minutes with a richly-deserved equaliser after their captain Andy Edwards had been sent off for his second bookable offence in the first half, a crude lunge at Stephen McPhee.

The 10 men held on until midway through the second period when Steve Brooker opened the scoring after 73 minutes with his fourth goal of the season to set up a dramatic finish.

Peterborough: Harrison, Gill, Edwards, Arber, Newton, Farrell, Bullard, Shields, Burton, Andy Clarke, Fenn. Subs: Rea, Scott, Green, Jelleyman, Danielsson.

Port Vale: Goodlad, Collins, Burns, Brightwell, Carragher, Boyd, McClare, Bridge-Wilkinson, Byrne, McPhee, Brooker. Subs: Delaney, Armstrong, Durnin, Charnock, Paynter.

Referee: K Hill (Hertfordshire).
