Tranmere 1-2 Oldham

Oldham extended their unbeaten away run to 13 matches thanks to a win over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.

Skipper David Eyres put them ahead from the penalty spot in the 37th minute after Gareth Roberts brought down Wayne Andrews.

Rovers equalised in the 59th minute with an angled header by Simon Haworth from a cross by Alex Hay.

Tranmere missed a great chance to go ahead in the 67th minute when Latics defender Will Haining handled in the box.

Roberts had the opportunity to make amends for conceding the first half penalty but his spot-kick was brilliantly turned aside by keeper Les Pogliacomi.

The visitors regained the advantage in the 76th minute with an excellent header by Julian Baudet from a Paul Murray cross, while Andrews was denied Oldham's third by the goalpost six minutes from time.

Tranmere: Achterberg, Connelly, Allen, Jackson, Roberts, Taylor, Mellon, Jones, Hay, Haworth, Barlow. Subs: Sharps, Howarth, Hinds, Hume, Marvin Robinson.

Oldham: Pogliacomi, Hall, Haining, Beharall, Murray, Eyre, Baudet, Armstrong, Eyres, Andrews, Corazzin. Subs: Miskelly, Duxbury, Darren Sheridan, Killen, Clegg.

Referee: C Foy (Merseyside)
