Cardiff 1-1 Swindon
Cardiff's Peter Thorne battles with Alan Reeves
A goal from Robert Earnshaw in the dying minutes of the game rescued a point for Cardiff at Ninian Park. With promotion-chasing rivals Bristol City falling 2-1 at Wycombe, the point was enough to move the Bluebirds into second place. However, Cardiff trail by nine points in the Division Two race, as Wigan extended their lead at the top with a 3-1 victory over Notts County. After a dull first half, the visitors almost scored when Dean Marney's fierce volley was acrobatically pushed over the crossbar by goalkeeper Neil Alexander. However, from the resulting corner the visitors gained the advantage when Sam Parkin coolly headed the ball through the crowded goalmouth and into the net after 68 minutes. The home side responded positively but it was not until the 89th minute that Earnshaw pounced from two yards to secure his 21st league goal of the season.
