Chesterfield 2-2 Cheltenham
Cheltenham saw a two-goal lead pegged back by Chesterfield as they failed to hold out for what would have been an important win in the relegation battle. After a desperately poor first half, Cheltenham took a 55th-minute lead when Damian Spencer side-footed home a Martin Devaney cross from close range. The big striker was on target again in the 71st minute when he used his strength to go past Steve Payne and beat Andy Richmond with a low shot. Chesterfield had struggled to carve out any real chances but they rescued a point with two goals in the space of a minute. First Shayne Bradley raced clear in the 73rd minute to slide a right-foot shot past Steve Book and then defender Stuart Howson turned a Payne header into the roof of the net. Chesterfield went close through Glynn Hurst and Chris Brandon but Spencer had a chance to win it for the visitors five minutes from the end only to slice a left-foot shot wide.

Brandon, Ebdon, Booty, Hurst, Reeves, Burt.
Cheltenham: Book, Howarth, Mike Duff, Simpkins, Victory,
