Northampton 0-4 Tranmere

Three goals in 10 minutes sent Northampton crashing to defeat as Tranmere claimed their third away win of the league campaign.

Simon Haworth put the visitors ahead early on when he turned in Iain Hume's low cross and the former Wigan striker had chances to double his tally before the break.

Northampton replied with Chris Hargreaves heading just wide, while Jamie Forrester and Paul McGregor both brought the best out of goalkeeper John Achterberg.

Rovers' Stuart Barlow was denied by a good save from Glyn Thompson after the restart but Haworth raced into the box to increase Tranmere's lead midway through the second half.

Moments later Ryan Taylor made it 3-0 before Alex Hay completed the scoring.

Northampton: Thompson, Gill, Spedding, Sampson, Burgess, McGregor, Harsley, Trollope, Hargreaves, Forrester, Stamp.
Subs: Hope, Carruthers, Lincoln, Asamoah, Bunn.

Tranmere: Achterberg, Connelly, Nicholson, Allen, Edwards, Taylor, Mellon, Jones, Hume, Haworth, Barlow.
Subs: Sharps, Howarth, Hinds, Hay, Marvin Robinson.

Referee: P Crossley (Kent)
