Bristol City 1-0 Huddersfield
A 38th-minute goal from defender Matthew Hill made it six league wins in succession for Bristol City as they overcame Huddersfield. Hill shot low past Scott Bevan after an exchange of passes with midfielder Brian Tinnion, whose fine return ball split the visiting defence. Huddersfield fought to the end and City goalkeeper Steve Phillips had to produce a good low save to deny Danny Schofield an injury-time equaliser. Kick-off time was delayed for 15 minutes by ticketing and traffic problems, but eventually a crowd of over 11,000 saw City win. They witnessed a close match, with both teams operating a 4-5-1 formation. With only one striker on each side much of the game was played in a crowded midfield and there were few clear-cut chances. Tinnion had a first-half free-kick well saved by Bevan, while Christian Roberts headed inches wide for the home side in the closing stages.
