Peterborough 1-3 Bristol City
Bristol City moved to within touching distance of the top of Division Two after surging to a fifth straight win at struggling Peterborough. The visitors were set on their way by two early goals and free-scoring Scott Murray finished the job in the final minute. Brian Tinnion's free-kick gave City the advantage after Murray had been hacked down and an expertly-taken second on the counter-attack from Aaron Brown doubled the lead. Peterborough rallied before the break and 17-year-old wonderkid Ryan Semple came within a whisker of marking his senior debut with a stunning solo goal before Andy Clarke fired home just before half-time. But Murray raced away in the dying seconds to beat keeper Mark Tyler at the second attempt and wrap up another three points.

Bristol City: Phillips, Coles, Butler, Hill, Bell, Murray, Burnell, Doherty, Tinnion, Brown, Roberts. Subs: Hulbert, Rosenior, Correia, Lita, Myhill. Referee: M Thorpe (Suffolk).
