Stockport's inconsistent league form reared its ugly head as they slipped to a heavy defeat at home to Crewe.

Despite having leapfrogged seven places in the table after their midweek win, County never looked like troubling their north-west opponents.

Goals from Kenny Lunt and Rob Hulse (2) and a superb strike from Steve Jones were enough for the visitors.

Stockport substitute Jon Daly bagged his third goal in four games.

But it was not enough for Carlton Palmer's side as they rarely troubled the visitors, with leading hitman Luke Beckett, having scored 11 goals this season, effectively being marshalled out of the game.
