Port Vale 1-1 Oldham

Port Vale substitute Steve McPhee ended Oldham's eight-game winning run in a draw at Vale Park with a goal just 47 seconds after going onto the pitch.

Billy Paynter robbed Julian Baudet to cross from the left and McPhee, who replaced Steve Rowland, prodded the ball home with his first touch.

Oldham's Chris Armstrong headed a goalbound effort from Sam Collins off the line before goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi made a splendid save from Phil Charnock.

But Oldham took the lead when a fine pass by half-time substitute Lourenco Da Silva freed Dean Holden, who cut inside to strike a 16-yard shot which took a deflection off Vale defender Matt Carragher.

Vale refused to lie down and McPhee's first goal of the season secured a well-deserved point.

Port Vale: Goodlad, Brightwell, Carragher, Collins, Cummins, Durnin, Rowland, Charnock, Ashcroft, Paynter, Angell.
Subs: Delaney, McPhee, Boyd, Armstrong, Burns.

Oldham: Pogliacomi, Hall, Baudet, Armstrong, Eyres, Duxbury, Darren Sheridan, Carss, Holden, Corazzin, Wijnhard.
Subs: Miskelly, Andrews, Killen, Haining, Da Silva.

Referee: D Gallagher (Oxfordshire).
