Crewe 2-0 QPR

Striker Steve Jones scored a goal in each half to end QPR's run of five successive Division Two wins.

Ian Holloway's side could have moved joint-top of the table with Wigan had they earned three points, but they rarely looked like taking anything against in-form Alex.

Jones opened the scoring midway through the first half when he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful shot past goalkeeper Fraser Digby.

The QPR goalkeeper then kept out Rob Hulse's header with a save at full stretch, but he could do nothing to prevent Jones making it 2-0.

Rodney Jack raced down the wing and swung in a dangerous delivery which caught out the QPR defence and allowed Jones to steer home a right-foot shot.

The visitors had a chance to haul themselves back into the game but Paul Furlong's penalty was well saved by Clayton Ince.

Crewe: Ince, Wright, Walker, Foster, Sodje, Lunt, Brammer, Rix, Jack, Hulse, Jones. Subs: Tomlinson, Walton, Little, Ashton, Bell.

QPR: Digby, Williams, Forbes, Carlisle, Shittu, Palmer, Rose, Connolly, Langley, Gallen, Furlong. Subs: Bircham, Culkin, Murphy, Oli, Thomson.

Referee: G Cain (Merseyside).
