Plymouth 2-2 Cardiff

Two goals from Cardiff City top scorer Robert Earnshaw earned his side a 2-2 draw at Plymouth and fired the Bluebirds to the top of the Second Division.

Earnshaw did not take long to get off the mark, scoring with just 84 seconds on the clock after latching on to a through-ball from Peter Thorne.

Plymouth countered with skipper Paul Wotton scoring with a 35-yard free kick.

And the home side should have gone on to increase their advantage in the 27th minute.

But Bluebirds keeper Neil Alexander made a brilliant one-handed save to keep out Hasney Aljofree's 25-yard free kick.

In the 41st minute Ian Stonebridge hit the Cardiff upright with his volley on the turn.

Cardiff regained the lead in the 67th minute when Andy Legg's superb cross from the left was headed home from six yards out by Earnshaw.

It was his eighth goal of the season, seven of them in the last five games.

But Pilgrim's central defender Graham Coughlan levelled in the fifth minute of stoppage time when he bundled home Aljofree's corner following a goalmouth scramble.

The result extends City's unbeaten away record to 12 matches.
