Peterborough 5-1 Brentford
Peterborough sent Brentford back to the capital with egg on their faces courtesy of a five-star display. Defender Simon Rea needed just 27 seconds to start the demolition job - and by the time Andy Clarke had finished it in the last few seconds, Brentford had been ripped apart. Midfield dynamo Jimmy Bullard made it 2-0 for Peterborough three minutes into the second half with a penalty after dangerman Clarke had been hacked down by Leo Roget. However, it was not until 15 minutes from time that the goals began to flow. Bradley Allen capped a stunning all-round performance by heading his first goal for the club, and followed it up by laying number four on a plate for Dave Farrell. Brentford gained a consolation goal through Rowan Vine but it was Barry Fry's side who had the last laugh. Clarke raced through from his half and nutmegged goalkeeper Paul Smith before getting down on all fours to finish the job with a goal that will live long in the memory.
