Chesterfield 1-0 Blackpool

Chesterfield chalked up a sixth consecutive clean sheet and a third straight win thanks to a David Reeves strike.

Reeves buried a right-foot volley in the 48th minute, but Blackpool will wonder how they let this game slip through their hands.

They had enough chances to take the points but poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping from Carl Muggleton denied them.

Richie Wellens and Scott Taylor were both foiled by Muggleton in the space of 60 seconds, while substitute Richard Walker had a goal-bound shot blocked by Stuart Howson.

Chesterfield could have eased their nerves by scoring a second but Howson could only scoop over from close range in the 66th minute.

But Blackpool's finishing was equally poor.

John Murphy had a great opportunity in the 80th minute but lost control of the ball when through on goal and Walker shot tamely at Muggleton in stoppage time.

Chesterfield: Muggleton, Dawson, Blatherwick, Howson, Ebdon, Rushbury, Davies, Booty, Burt, Allott, Reeves. Subs: Edwards, Richmond, Howard, Hudson, Richardson.

Blackpool: Barnes, Grayson, Hughes, Peter Clarke, Coid, O'Kane, Wellens, Hills, Murphy, Taylor, Dalglish. Subs: Jaszczun, Theoklitos , Collins, Walker, Chris Clarke.

Referee: H Webb (S Yorkshire).
