Barnsley 2-1 Blackpool

Barnsley came from a goal behind to secure a much-needed win over high-flying Blackpool at Oakwell.

Rory Fallon grabbed the Tykes' winner 15 minutes from time when he bundled a Paul Gibbs cross over the line from a yard out.

Blackpool had taken a 12th minute lead through John Murphy's well-taken effort from 15 yards.

But Barnsley were rewarded for constant pressure with a deserved equaliser just after the half-hour mark.

Mitch Ward's corner was flicked on by Fallon for Mike Sheron to volley the ball home from six yards.

Steve Parkin's side, who had gone five games without a victory, went close to adding to their tally.

Sheron forced a good save from goalkeeper Phil Barnes with a 20-yard drive.

Blackpool could have snatched a late equaliser, but substitute Scott Taylor fired his effort over the crossbar from 18 yards.

Barnsley: Marriott, Mulligan, Flynn, Curle, Gibbs, Betsy, Gary Jones, Ward, Gorre, Sheron, Fallon. Subs: Ghent, O'Callaghan, Holt, Lumsdon, Griff Jones.

Blackpool: Barnes, Grayson, O'Kane, Clark, Jaszczun, Bullock, Wellens, Southern, Hills, Murphy, Dalglish. Subs: Hughes, Reid, Taylor, Theoklitos , Walker.

Referee: N Barry (N Lincolnshire)
