Wigan 2-2 Peterborough

Wigan let a two-goal lead slip at the JJB Stadium against Peterborough.

Andy Liddell put Wigan in front with a 38th-minute penalty on his 150th league appearance for the club.

The 29-year-old Scot sent Peterborough goalkeeper Mark Tyler the wrong way after Adam Newton had pulled back Lee McCulloch in the box.

Nathan Ellington doubled Wigan's lead seven minutes into the second-half when the striker swivelled to fire past Tyler after the Posh defence was slow to clear a Scott Green corner.

But the game turned on its head when Newton began the Peterborough fightback with a 62nd-minute goal from a Bradley Allen through-ball.

Newton turned provider soon after when he supplied the cross for Andy Clarke to sweep the ball home for a 75th-minute equaliser.

Wigan had all but themselves to blame and Ellington and McCulloch wasted chances in the closing stages.

Wigan: Filan, McMillan, Jackson, De Vos, Eaden, Mitchell, Jarrett, Green, McCulloch, Ellington, Liddell. Subs: Yeomans, Flynn, Teale, Roberts, Ashcroft.

Peterborough: Tyler, Burton, Edwards, Joseph, Farrell, Gill, Bullard, Andy Clarke, Newton, Green, Lee. Subs: Rea, Fenn, Hyde, Allen, Willis.

Referee: M Clattenburg (Co Durham)
