Chesterfield extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a win at Plymouth thanks to an audacious 69th-minute winner from midfielder Marcus Ebdon.

Ebdon exchanged passes with Martyn Booty before letting fly from 30 yards to secure three points.

Plymouth pressed for an equaliser and went closest in the 87th minute when French midfielder David Friio's header from Paul Wotton's corner hit the far post.

In the final minute of stoppage time, Plymouth's Hasney Aljofree, making his home debut, curled a 30-yard free-kick just wide.

Aljofree could have fired Plymouth into a ninth-minute lead but shot wide from close range after a superb ball into the area by Graham Coughlan.

In the 45th minute, a diving header from Plymouth's Lee Hodges went just over the crossbar.
