Karl Connolly struck twice as QPR destroyed Bristol City's unbeaten home record with a convincing win at Ashton Gate.

The home side went in front on 10 minutes through a Scott Murray shot, but Connolly volleyed a 23rd-minute equaliser and City then lost strikers Lee Matthews and Lee Peacock to first-half injuries.

The home side were never the same force after that and Connolly fired home on 47 minutes before Kevin Gallen wrapped up the points with a 53rd-minute strike.

It was Ian Holloway's first win as a manager over City and it clearly gave the former Bristol Rovers player-boss enormous pleasure.

Rangers deserved their success, having looked vulnerable to Murray's pace early on, and launched some dangerous attacks themselves throughout an entertaining clash.

City were left to rue glaring first-half misses by Peacock and Craig Woodman as well as some poor defending for all three goals.

A 12,000-plus crowd saw two teams intent on attack and in the end Rangers could have increased their lead as Steve Phillips saved well from Gallen and Marc Bircham.
