Brentford 1-0 Wycombe
Stephen Hunt scores Brentford's winning goal
Brentford bounced back following two successive defeats on the road when they beat near neighbours Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 at Griffin Park. The Bees started brightly and on two minutes Leo Roget headed wide from eight yards out, with Jamie Fullarton firing over from the edge of the box a minute later. On the quarter-hour mark the visitors almost opened the scoring when Andy Thomson headed against the post from a Michael Simpson corner. Wanderers continued to take the play to the home side and on the stroke of half-time Brentford keeper Paul Smith made a fine save from a long-range Danny Bulman strike. The all-important Bees winner came 12 minutes after the break when defender Paul McCarthy was judged to have pulled down Bees striker Rowan Vine in the box. Stephen Hunt stepped up to fire home the resultant spot-kick. Wanderers made a late triple substitution, but they could not breach the Bees defence and the home side secured all three points.
