Oldham 1-0 Bristol City
Hotshot Clyde Wijnhard's scoring streak sunk 10-man Bristol City and gave Oldham a Boundary Park success - their third home win in five games. The Dutchman fired the winner with 20 minutes left and, after a career-best four goals against Mansfield last Saturday, he has now grabbed seven in as many games. City, who won their first away match of the season last Saturday, rarely threatened the home side. And they faced an even bigger struggle when defender Tom Doherty was sent off in the 59th minute for his second bookable offence. Latics made the extra man count when they took their goal tally to 13 in four league and cup games. David Beharall fed David Eyres and the veteran winger found Wijnhard with a fine cross for him to sidefoot the ball home from six yards. City staged a stirring finale but were denied an equaliser when Oldham goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi kept out a stinging shot from substitute Christian Roberts in stoppage time.
Oldham: Pogliacomi, Hill, Hall, Beharall, Low, Appleby, Darren Sheridan, Eyres, Eyre, Corazzin, Wijnhard. Subs: Miskelly, Andrews, Carss, Duxbury, Baudet. Bristol City: Phillips, Coles, Butler, Fortune, Murray, Burnell, Doherty, Tinnion, Woodman, Peacock, Matthews. Subs: Aaron Brown, Hulbert, Roberts, Lita, Myhill. Referee: C Webster (Tyne & Wear).
