Marco Gabbiadini completed his first hat-trick for Northampton as the Cobblers rediscovered their goal touch in spectacular fashion to cruise to a win over Colchester.

The experienced striker charged down Richard McKinney's clearance to open the scoring from an acute angle on 15 minutes.

New-boy Armand One headed home the second (23) and, after Ian Sampson had put through his own net to reduce the arrears (36), Gabbiadini restored Town's two-goal advantage with a powerful header on the stroke of half-time.

Gabbiadini deservedly completed his hat-trick when One set up the perfect opportunity (61) and the rampant Cobblers also hit the crossbar through Paul McGregor.
