Port Vale 1-0 Peterborough

A late goal from substitute Brett Angell secured Port Vale's second successive victory as they clinched a fine win against Peterborough.

Angell, who replaced Ian Armstrong on the hour, pounced six minutes from time after goalkeeper Mark Tyler could only parry a fierce shot from Stephen McPhee.

Peterborough dominated the first half and Adam Newton brought the best out of Vale goalkeeper Mark Goodlad who produced a superb save.

However, the second half was a different story and Stephen Rowland went close in the 51st minute with an excellent effort.

But it was Angell who had the last laugh as his strike five minutes from time condemned Posh to a fifth consecutive defeat.

Port Vale: Goodlad, Walsh, Carragher, Ingram, Cummins, Brisco, Bridge-Wilkinson, Rowland, McCarthy, McPhee, Armstrong. Subs: Delaney, Boyd, Charnock, Burns, Angell.

Peterborough: Tyler, Pearce, Rea, Edwards, Joseph, Newton, Burton, Bullard, Forsyth, Green, Shields. Subs: Gill, Andy Clarke, MacDonald, Danielsson, Willis.

Referee: G Salisbury (Lancashire)
