Huddersfield failed to break down an impressive Blackpool rearguard in the goalless draw at the McAlpine Stadium.

In a game devoid of good chances, Phil Barnes had to be at his best in the Blackpool goal to turn away Scott McDonald's strike after a pinpoint delivery from debutant Kevin Gallacher.

Blackpool went close in the first half courtesy of a fine Paul Dalglish strike, and young striker Richard Walker should have done better with a free header.

The visitors almost snatched victory at the death but goalkeeper Scott Bevans denied Scott Taylor from close range.
