Cardiff dropped two more home points after being held to a goalless draw by Luton in a poor match at Ninian Park.

Substitute Robert Earnshaw struck a post in the dying moments, but it was another disappointing Bluebirds performance.

Neil Alexander saved City's blushes with a point-blank stop from Steve Robinson as Luton threatened to snatch victory.

Lennie Lawrence's side failed to make any headway against a Hatters rearguard which had leaked 14 goals in their opening three games.

Apart from Earnshaw's efforts, the best chances fell to Peter Thorne and Andy Campbell. But both strikers failed to find the target.

Cardiff: Alexander, Weston, Gabbidon, Prior, Croft, Kavanagh, Whalley, Legg, Thorne, Campbell, Fortune-West. Subs: Earnshaw, Boland, Barker, Maxwell, Margetson.

Luton: Roberts, Boyce, Perrett, Coyne, Davis, Spring, Nicholls, Brkovic, Hughes, Crowe, Howard. Subs: Emberson, Bayliss, Thorpe, Neilson, Robinson.

Referee: P Danson (Leicestershire)
