Luton's miserable start to the Division Two campaign continued as they lost their fourth straight match against a 10-man Barnsley side.

Russell Perrett turned the ball into his own net after 20 minutes to give the Tykes the lead but Luton fought back and equalised through Kevin Nicholls' penalty.

Barnsley then lost defender Andy Holt for bringing down Steve Robinson although the dismissal made no difference as Barnsley stormed into a 3-1 lead with goals from Mike Sheron and Bruce Dyer.

Matthew Spring pulled a goal back in the 61st minute but it was not enough for the Hatters.
