Plymouth captain Paul Wotton scored the winning goal for the third match in succession to help the Pilgrims edge a win in an exciting match at Cheltenham.

The central defender drove a 25-yard free-kick off the underside of the crossbar and into the net as Paul Sturrock's side ended Cheltenham's hopes of grabbing their first Division Two win.

Damian Spencer had given the home side the lead after 33 minutes with a shot from an acute angle and the former Bristol City striker twice went close to adding to his tally.

However, defender Graham Coughlan levelled the scores with a 61st-minute header before Wotton claimed the points.
