New-look Brentford secured a victory in a highly entertaining encounter with Bristol City at Griffin Park.

The first half was an even affair with both sides going close on a couple of occasions, Rowan Vine for the Bees and Aaron Brown for the visitors.

Four minutes after the break, City's Scott Murray hit the post with a 20-yard strike and after 63 minutes he did the same from close range.

A minute later, Christian Roberts opened up the home defence and Lee Peacock, unmarked in the area, saw his right-foot effort smash against the post and rebound to safety.

The Bees' winner came after 68 minutes when Stephen Hunt was tripped in the area by Danny Coles and then got up to score from the resulting spot-kick.

Brown was sent off for a crude tackle on Bees defender Ibrahami Sonko with 15 minutes remaining.
