Brentford are celebrating a place in the Division Two play-off final after a 2-1 win over Huddersfield.

Lloyd Owusu's goal just after half-time sealed the victory for the Bees at Griffin Park.

It was only what Brentford deserved after agonisingly missing out on automatic promotion spot on the last day.

But their promotion dream remains alive after securing a trip to the Millennium Stadium on May 11th.

Sunday's first leg had finished goalless but the deadlock was broken in only the second minute at Griffin Park.

Battled bravely

Poor defending by Brentford gifted the ball to Andy Booth and he used the space to race into the penalty area and try a left-foot shot which squirmed through the hand of Bees goalkeeper Paul Smith and over the goalline.

But Steve Coppell's men pulled level when a free-kick from the left was headed in by Darren Powell in the 37th minute.

They almost added a second shortly after when Ivar Ingimarsson's header was cleared off the line by Chris Holland.

Lou Macari's men battled bravely for an equaliser to take the match into extra time but, with leading goal scorer Leon Knight suspended, lacked a cutting edge up front.

Brentford: Paul Smith, Dobson, Powell, Ingimarsson, Anderson, Sidwell, Paul Evans, Hunt, Rowlands, Burgess, Owusu. Subs: Gottskalksson, Boxall, McCammon, O'Connor, Theobald.

Huddersfield: Margetson, Jenkins, Gray, Ifil, Gareth Evans, Thorrington, Irons, Holland, Heary, Booth, Facey. Subs: Hay, Paul Evans, Delaney, Moses, Mattis.

Referee: G Barber (Tring).
