Paul Watson's spectacular winner put the seal on Brighton's championship-winning celebrations as they beat Port Vale in a carnival atmosphere at Vale Park.

More than 4,000 travelling fans were in good voice throughout and particularly after Watson's 72nd-minute effort.

There appeared little danger when the full-back prepared to take a free-kick from the right flank, but he bent a superb 25-yard shot high inside the far post.

Vale were reduced to 10 men in the 34th minute when Stephen Brooker was red-carded for an over-the-top challenge on Richard Carpenter.
