An injury-time equaliser from substitute John Hodge earned Northampton a point and denied rock-bottom Cambridge the chance to register their first away win this season.

Already assured of their Second Division status, Northampton were slow into their stride and Tom Youngs headed Cambridge into a fourth-minute lead.

Jamie Forrester equalised from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute and then missed two good chances in the second half.

Youngs restored Cambridge's advantage in the 71st minute but Hodge came off the bench to deny the visitors.
