Two second-half goals by substitute Neil Roberts salvaged a draw for Wigan and denied Colchester a winning end to the season.

Colchester grabbed a 2-0 half-time lead when Scott McGleish struck from 35 yards - his 15th of the season - three minutes before the break.

Then on-loan striker Charlie MacDonald capped his last appearance for the club with his first goal for the Us on the stroke of half time.

Roberts, introduced nine minutes into the second half, clawed one back with a clever lob from Andy Liddell's pass.

He then secured a draw four minutes from time as he headed home Liddell's cross at the far post.
