Huddersfield secured a play-off place as they came from behind to beat Port Vale. Striker Andy Booth stepped off the bench to secure their place in the top six with a trademark header. Booth netted his 13th goal of the season from a Leon Knight cross in the 65th minute to ensure the Terriers have a chance of promotion to the First Division. The goal also ended Huddersfield's last-home-match jinx. The Terriers had not won any of their final home matches at the McAlpine Stadium since the club moved from their old ground at Leeds Road in 1994. Port Vale, managed by ex-Town boss Brian Horton, took the lead in the seventh minute when midfielder Marc Bridge-Wilkinson fired home a terrific 20-yard free-kick. The Valiants dominated most of the first half but went in at the break level after Delroy Facey blasted in Chris Hay's cross after 42 minutes.
