Notts County continued their upturn in form which may yet see them stave off relegation with a win over Blackpool.

Paul Heffernan put the ball in the net after 47 minutes but County had to settle for a penalty instead because referee Paul Armstrong had already penalised Brian Reid for handball.

Danny Allsopp stepped up and blasted the ball home via the underside of the crossbar to make amends for an earlier miss in a match severely affected by the strong wind.

Blackpool improved in the closing stages and Richard Walker had two chances to snatch an equaliser, but County are now within sight of Second Division safety.

Notts County: Garden, Ian Richardson, Fenton, Ireland, Nicholson, Cas, Owers, Whitley, Liburd, Allsopp, Heffernan. Subs: Mildenhall, Baraclough, Warren, Bolland, Hackworth.

Blackpool: Barnes, Clarke, Reid, Bullock, Jaszczun, O'Kane, Dunning, Wellens, Hills, Walker, Murphy. Subs: Pullen, Taylor, Collins, Fenton, Day.

Referee: P Armstrong (Thatcham).
