Brave Bury's resistance was finally broken in the 85th minute as Bristol City ran out 2-0 winners.

Mickey Bell's 25-yard rocket ended City frustration and kept their play-off hopes.

Relegation-threatened Bury had defended solidly, with goalkeeper Paddy Kenny outstanding.

Lee Peacock sealed City's victory when he added the second in injury time from a pass by substitute Lee Matthews.

Bury are now in deep trouble, but there was no doubting the justice of the result.

City had dominated the first half only to find Kenny in seemingly unbeatable form as he made fine saves from Bell, Peacock and Christian Roberts.
